Ziyarat in Makkah
1. Jabal al-Nour (Mountain of Light) — Cave of Hira
This is where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) received the first revelation from Angel Jibreel. The cave is a 2-3 hour climb (about 600 meters) up the mountain. Best visited in the early morning or evening (avoid midday heat). The climb is physically demanding — wear proper shoes and carry water.
2. Jabal Thawr (Mountain of Thawr) — Cave of Thawr
The cave where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Abu Bakr (RA) hid for 3 days during the Hijrah (migration to Madinah). A spider's web and dove's nest at the entrance protected them from their pursuers. The climb is longer and steeper than Jabal al-Nour — about 3-4 hours round trip.
3. Masjid Aisha (Masjid Taneem)
Located 7km from the Haram, this is where pilgrims enter Ihram for Umrah. Also known as Masjid Taneem, it is the miqat (boundary point) for those performing Umrah from within Makkah. HTG Travels arranges transport to this mosque for our Umrah clients.
4. Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah
These are the sites of the Hajj rituals. During non-Hajj season, you can visit: Mina (the tent city where pilgrims stay during Hajj), Jabal al-Rahmah at Arafat (the mountain where Adam and Hawwa reunited, and where the Prophet delivered his farewell sermon), and Muzdalifah (where pilgrims collect pebbles for Rami).
5. Factory of Kiswah (Kiswah Factory)
The factory where the Kiswah (the black cloth covering the Kaabah) is woven. The cloth is replaced annually during Hajj. The factory offers guided tours showing the intricate gold and silver embroidery process. Free entry.
Ziyarat in Madinah
1. Masjid Quba
The first mosque built by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) after migrating to Madinah. Praying 2 rakats here equals the reward of one Umrah. Located 5km from Masjid an-Nabawi. HTG Travels includes Quba in all Ziyarat tours.
2. Masjid Qiblatayn (Mosque of Two Qiblas)
The mosque where the Qibla (prayer direction) was changed from Jerusalem (Bait al-Maqdis) to Makkah (Kaabah) during a prayer. A historically and spiritually significant site.
3. Jabal Uhud (Mount Uhud)
Site of the Battle of Uhud, where 70 companions were martyred including Hamza ibn Abdul Muttalib (RA), the Prophet's uncle. The graves of the martyrs are at the base of the mountain. A deeply emotional and reflective site.
4. Jannat al-Baqi (Baqi Cemetery)
The oldest Islamic cemetery in Madinah, where many of the Prophet's family members and companions are buried, including his wife Khadijah (RA), his daughter Fatima (RA), and his son Ibrahim (RA). Located adjacent to Masjid an-Nabawi. Open after Fajr and Asr prayers.
5. Masjid al-Jumu'ah
The mosque where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) led the first Jumu'ah (Friday) prayer after migrating to Madinah. Located in the area of Quba.
6. Site of the Battle of the Trench (Khandaq)
Site of the Battle of Khandaq (Ahzab), where the Muslims dug a trench to defend Madinah. Several mosques mark the locations where the Prophet's tent was pitched during the battle.
